Gothic Lady is an original mixed-media portrait by Misty Lady (Malgorzata Nierobisz), created primarily in watercolour with acrylic and ink on highly textured fine art paper.

A solitary young woman emerges from a predominantly black and deep navy composition, dressed in a dark gown and surrounded by an atmosphere of mystery, elegance and quiet melancholy.

The work draws on Victorian Gothic aesthetics without becoming a literal period portrait. Dark tones, expressive marks and the textured surface of the paper give the figure an almost dreamlike presence, somewhere between contemporary portraiture and the atmosphere of a Gothic novel.

Watercolour forms the main medium, while acrylic and ink add depth, contrast and definition. The heavily textured aquarella paper remains an important part of the finished artwork, giving the surface a tactile, handmade character.

This is an original artwork, not a print or reproduction.
