Gourmet is an original horror artwork by Jakub DK (Jakub Krzewniak), created directly on an authentic vintage dictionary page from the 1930s.

A young undead figure in a battered blue hoodie emerges from the ageing typography of the page. The deliberately raw treatment, unsettling expression and distressed vintage surface give the piece the atmosphere of an old low-budget horror or grindhouse film.

Acrylic paint and watercolour markers are layered over an original page from The Universal Dictionary of the English Language, allowing fragments of the printed text to remain visible beneath and around the figure. The contrast between an educational object from another era and a contemporary horror character is an essential part of the artwork.

Because the dictionary page is genuinely vintage and upcycled, natural ageing, small bends, marks and variations are part of its individual character rather than reproductions of ageing effects.
